Makgadikgadi Pans Game Reserve Botswana

Makgadikgadi Pans Game Reserve is located in the country of Botswana, between the villages of Maun and Nata, near the Francistown road.
The name Makgadikgadi Pans although refers to a vast stretch of lifeless land, the Makgadikgadi Pans Game Reserve is not deprived of its folklore. The rivers at the Makgadikgadi Pans Game Reserve at Botswana remain dry all throughout the year, except for the monsoon season during the month of November and retain their water till the end of May. It is due to these water sheets that large varieties of migratory birds are attracted to this region accompanied by the dramatic migrations of zebra and the wildebeest.

Accommodation at the Makgadikgadi Pans Game Reserve in Botswana is available within the Park itself. The first one is that of Njuca Hills, which is popularly referred to as Njugha and is placed at a distance of twenty five kilometers from the Game Reserve’s southern main entrance gate. The second one is that of the Kumaga, located at a distance of forty eight kilometers from the south western main entrance gate, overlooking the river of Boteti flowing across the Kumaga village.

The most unfortunate aspect of the Makgadikgadi Pans Game Reserve of Botswana is the spectacular sight of the birdlife becomes inaccessible during the rains. However for those who can afford to fly to this region can witness a fascinating scenic beauty of the place.
