Khutse Game Reserve Botswana

Khutse Game Reserve located in Botswana, stretches over an area of 2,500 square kilometers and was established in the year 1971.
The immense scarcity of water along with the fragile vegetation led to the complete absence of any kind of human civilization in the region. Although large concentrations of game are not available at the Khutse Game Reserve yet animals like leopard, cheetah, giraffe, kudu, eland, red hartebeest, wildebeest, black backed jackal, gemsbok, springbok, grey duiker, steenbok, brown hyena, wild dog and the bat eared fox are quite abundant in the reserve.

The extreme mineralization of the pan system of the Khutse Game Reserve at Botswana has led to the growth of herbivorous habitat in the region, which in turn has cleared the path for the emergence of the carnivorous predators like the lions, leopards and cheetah. The Khutse Game Reserve in Botswana has been provided with man made boreholes in order to preserve as well as encourage the wild animals to continue staying within the reserve area.

Khutse Game Reserve of Botswana is well accessible from the capital city of Gaborone via roadways. On the roads however only big vehicles are preferred, since the sand road that stretches after Letlhakeng is quite loose and also deeply rutted. Accommodations are provided at Khutse I and Khutse II Pans.
