The history of Botswana provides us lot of information about the original country and its gradual development in all the major spheres. Botswana history tells us that the original inhabitants of Botswana were the bush people. They actually moved from north to the south. The bush people were followed or succeeded by the Hottentots, who spoke Bantu language and belonged to almost 2,000 years ago. These groups of people lived quite peacefully, happily and trade flourished well among them. Botswana history is supplemented with a good number of facts and figures, which make the people inclined to know more about this African country. From Botswana history it has been deciphered that the people, who used to speak Shona language, got settled in the north eastern part in and around the 10th century AD.
The Tswana ethnic group of people came from the south to the south east in the 15th century and got well established in that area in the 18th century. During the year 1820, different groups assembled together to form a nation in the place, which is presently the border between South Africa and Botswana. Botswana got independence in the year 1966 and it is largely dependent on South Africa for its food and wages of mine workers. In the present time, there has been a sea change in the economic growth of the country and Botswana currently has a huge reserve of foreign currencies. The biggest problem here is the alarming increase in birth rate. However, steps are being taken to minimize that also.
