The Vice-President is no less an important figure in the structure of government of Botswana. The
Botswana Vice-President mainly acts on
behalf of the president of Botswana. Actually the Vice President of Botswana holds position of power and prestige next to the President. Seretse Ian Khama is the reigning Vice President of Botswana. He is in power from the year 1998. The other vice presidents of Botswana were Quett Masire, Peter Mmusi, Festus Mogae and Lenyeletse Seretse. The Vice President aids and advises the President on all important matters to ensure an all round development. Apart from this, the Vice President also has the full power and responsibility to take vital decisions during the absence of the President.
The Vice President of Botswana looks after the detailed administration of the government on a daily basis to ensure its effectiveness and accuracy in implementing the various policies. The Vice President is also responsible for listening to the demands of the people and to adopt the necessary changes to make rapid progress in all spheres like social, political and economical. The Vice President also enables the President to design the foreign policies in such a way so as to maintain good relations with the foreign countries. The development in the defense structure is also made through the mutual consultation of the President with the Vice President.
