Gumba-gumba is one of the most dominant form of Popular Music Botswana. The Gumba-gumba is basically a modernized version of the music of Zulu and Tswana ethnic group. Gumba-gumba amalgamates the tunes and rhythms of both Tswana music and Zulu music and modernizes it with its own colors by incorporating a pinch of the traditional jazz. The term “gumba” actually means party in the colloquial language.
Botswana's popular music is an essential aspect of Botswana life and culture. Apart from all the other specific genres, church choirs are still considered as the most popular music in Botswana. Most of the Popular Music Botswana still arrives from the European countries, South Africa and the United States.
