GTV Botswana

GTV Botswana is actually a pan-African pay television service. The pay TV service is actually offered by Gateway Broadcast Services, an
accessory of Gateway Communications.

According to the commercial director of GTV, only 17% pay is required for availing this service. To him, the pay TV service should come as an item of utility and not as that of luxury. The GTV Botswana actually became available when the Barclays Premier League Rights got changed. The GTV Botswana telecasted 80% of the matches. The Botswana GTV has 13 channels covering all fields like sports, movies, news, religion and music. To avail connection to GTV, P1 400 is charged. Monthly subscription for a G-base is P 155.00. It provides a package of 10 channels without any sports channel. The package of G-plus features 13 channels and its cost is around P 245.00.

The pre requisites for getting connected to GTV include remote control, smart control, satellite dish and decoder. The officials of the GTV Botswana are however, not concerned about whether the decoders are compatible with signals or not. The GTV Botswana does not need any broadcasting license as per the Court of Appeals. However, official clearance and permission have to be obtained to start broadcasting operations.
