Bermuda Cricket which is the traditional game in Bermuda is also the national game of the island. Bermuda Cricket team has been authorized under the International cricket council in 1996.People love cricket in Bermuda. This year Bermuda took part in the 2007 ICC Cricket World Cup in the West Indies. Bermuda was put in the group B with India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. It played its first match against Sri Lanka. Clay James Smith led the team as captain. Gus Logie was appointed the coach of the Bermuda cricket.
Earlier Bermuda cricket team had took part in 7 ICC Trophy matches. It was the best time of Bermuda cricket when it became the runner up team in the ICCI Trophy in 1982.
Bermuda played its first cricket match on 30 th August 1844.After one year the Bermuda Cricket club was formed. The British troops and the locals helped to develop the team. But Bermuda cricket received a set back after the First World War.
It was only after the Second World War that Bermuda cricket club got back its popularity. In 1960 Bermuda cricket team went to England.
The first One-day International match was played by Bermuda in May 2006.Bermuda cricket team participated in the Stanford 20/20 knock-out tournament . Unfortunately Jamaica defeated Bermuda.
