Barely ten years old and the Bermuda International Film Festival ( BIFF) has received the rare privilege of being recognized by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as a qualifying festival for the Short Films category for the Annual Academy Awards. Since its inception in 1997, the Bermuda International Film Festival has grown leaps and bounds, participated by veterans as well as novice filmmakers, showcasing their talents.

Bermuda International Film Festival: Behind the Curtains:
- The major award categories at BIFF are; Mary-Jean Mitchell Green Award, M3 Wireless Bermuda Shorts Award and the Bacardi Audience Choice Awards.
- BIFF is administered by a Management committee and the Board of Directors. Its staff consists of the Festival Director and the Deputy Festival Director. An International Advisory Board was constituted in 2001. Besides, there are several volunteers who contribute significantly in making the festival a grand event.
- BIFF hosts the BIFF Kids Children's Film Festival in October, in addition to its March festival.
- Being a registered charity, BIFF is funded through various fund raising programme, corporate fundings and sale of tickets and other products.
The Bermuda International Film Festival , is an annual event highly esteemed for its quality, the wide range of films that it showcases and in recognizing the cinematic excellence across several languages. It forms an important part of tourist attractions in Bermuda.
