The Bermuda military expenses are paid in US dollars. Males aged from 19 to 49 were taken in the army The British government has the responsibility of Bermuda's defense. Bermuda had become the Royal Navy headquarters and also a dockyard. The Bermuda military power had become extra and so it was lapsed after the Second World War. But certain volunteer units were set up to maintain the Bermuda military barracks.
The Royal Artillery was continuously there from 1775 to 1896.When there was a war between Britain and France the British government protected Bermuda by regular forces.
Due to the Black male population there was low man power requirement. Infantry was needed .But again due to the colony's Black population the man power was less utilized. The military body was divided into two categories .One group belonged to the white and the other to the Whites. The white colonists always feared rebels from the Black.
After the Second World War recruiting of soldiers was started which was never done before. Both black and white men were recruited and they started working under the Imperial Garrison .But the administration faced racial conflicts.
