The diverse topography of the Stann Creek District of Belize makes it one of the fascinating tourist destinations of the country. With an area of 986 sq miles, the Stann Creek District, is located at the lower slopes of the Maya Mountain, featuring the spectacular Victoria Peak. The coastline of Stann Creek district has numerous beaches and provides access to the nearby cayes.
A drive through the Hummingbird Highway into Dangriga, the center of the Stann Creek District, offers excellent views on the way. Dangriga is the land of the Garifuna people, descending from the Carib Indians and the slaves originating in Africa.
