Belize District, situated at the center of the country, bears witness to a fascinating past. The first European settlers of the Belize district were the loggers and pirates. Intermixing of the Europeans with the African slaves resulted in the Creole population existent within the district that covers 1633 sq miles. Belize city, the largest one in the whole country, is located in the Belize district.
The natural beauty of the Belize district is largely because of the geographical features. The mangrove swamps of the outskirts of the District of Belize gives way to the savanna grasslands in the interiors. The Belize district is adorned with flowing rivers and the inland lagoons.
