Hinduism in Belarus



Belarus can be characterized by coexistence of various religious sects and ethnic groups. But Hinduism is Belarus is not practiced widely. Followers of Hinduism in Belarus form a minority here.
Hinduism followers in Belarus mainly include the Indians who have immigrated to Belarus. The followers of Hinduism of Belarus can be categorized into three groups:
  • ISKON Group
  • Light of Kailasa Group
  • Brahmakumaris Group


ISKON Group
The worshipers of the Hindu God Krishna and members of Vaishnavism fall under the category of the ISKON group. ISKON group has a fair number of followers here. There are around five centers of ISKON located in different cities of Belarus. Among them three centers can be found in:
  • Vitebisk
  • Minsk
  • Gomel
This group has faced a lot of disturbances from local authorities which was sorted with the intervention of Human Rights Commission.


Light of Kailasa Group
The followers of Shaivism fall under the category of The Light of Kailasa group. As this group is not officially registered, the members of this group had to face a lot of harassment in the hands of the laws of the country and this group was banned altogether in Belarus.

Brahmakumaris Group
BrahmaKumaris is a registered Hindu Group in Belarus. There are two centers of BrahmaKumaris in Belarus. Two of them are located at
  • Minsk
  • Brest
The religion of Hinduism could not influence the people of Belarus much. Practice of Hinduism is limited to only people of Indian origin. The inhabitants of Belarus mainly follow Islam, Christianity and Judaism.
