Nuclear Fallout Effects in Belarus



The accident in the Chernobyl nuclear power plant took place in the year 1986 in Ukraine. A major part of Belarus experienced the unfortunate fallout of the explosion of Chernobyl nuclear power plant.
There were extensive nuclear fallout effects in Belarus. Since the nuclear fallout in Belarus, many United Nations organizations like FAO, UNDP, UN-OCHA, UNEP, WHO, UNSCEAR, and The World Bank have taken many radical steps to counter the ecological and health problems in Belarus. The Government of Belarus has also issued regular assessments to control the nuclear fallout effects in Belarus. Their unified effort has served the purpose as well. Since the 21st century, there has been a sharp decrease in the casualties because of the nuclear fallout effects in Belarus.

Belarus experienced havoc nuclear fallout effects after the Chernobyl incident in 1986. Nearly, 70% of the radioactive elements that emitted out of the nuclear plant were reported to enter the territory of Belarus. About one-fifth of Belorussian territory was vastly affected by the nuclear accident. It was reported by various sources that nearly 50 people died of the nuclear effects in Belarus. The accident had also a bad effect on the ecology of Belarus. Many fishes were found dead in the lakes because of the fallout effects of nuclear emission in Belarus.



Few parts of Belarus were left uninhabited after the Belarus nuclear fallout. But the situation is improving everyday and the Government believes the situation to be entirely normal within a few more years.
