President of Belarus



The president of Belarus is the head of the state. The present president of Belarus is Alexander Lukashenko. The vital duties of the president of Belarus include formulation and implementation of both foreign and domestic policies,
defending the rights of the common people and looking after the welfare of the citizens. Important decisions regarding the social, political and economical matters vest in the hands of Belarus president. Apart from this the president of Belarus is also the main representative of the country abroad. The president of Belarus is normally elected for a period of five years. In order to be the president of Belarus, the person must be over thirty five years old and be a citizen of Belarus for over ten years. Apart from this the person should be mentally sound and rational. The present president of Belarus has been in office since 1994. The defense control also lies in the hands of the Belarus president. He is in fact also the supreme of the armed forces. As the head of the armed forces he has the full responsibility to protect the state from any sort of internal and external dangers. During the time of emergency also the Belarus president can declare an emergency situation. In the political field, the president can either appoint or dissolve any members, whom he thinks suitable for the smooth functioning of the government.
