Belarusian Socialist Sporting Party

The Belarusian Socialist Sporting Party is a political party in the Republic of Belarus. The Belarus socialist party is a strong supporter of the government and is headed by President Alexander Lukashenko.

The Belarusian Socialist Sporting Party is popularly known by its initials: BSSP. The current chairman of the Belarusian Socialist Sporting Party is Aleksandr Aleksandrovich. The Belarus socialist party occupies only one seat in the Belarus House of Representatives.

The Belarusian Socialist Sporting Party is one of the parties that participated in the 2006 parliamentary elections. The elections that took place have little international credibility. Many neighboring European countries-including those, who are part of the European Union or EU, believed the elections to be unfair with a predetermined result. The state controlled media actively promoted the candidatures of the ruling party. Independent studies have shown that a substantial number of the total electorate has opposed the re-election of President Alexander Lukashenko. The fact is that President Lukashenko has only one group of hardcore supporters-the old and pensioned section of the population, who live on state pensions. This section also pined for the lost glory of the erstwhile Soviet Empire. The Belarusian Socialist Sporting Party exploited these passions with limited effect.
