    Bahrain Grand Prix

The Bahrain Grand Prix is a Formula One Championship race which first happened at the Bahrain International Circuit on April 4, 2004. The first Bahrain Grand Prix race was won by German driver Michael Schumacher. The Bahrain Grand Prix , sponsored by Gulf Air, is the first Formula One Grand Prix of the Middle East . Countries like Egypt, Lebanon and UAE lust for the prestige of hosting a Formula One Grand Prix. In its history, the Bahrain Grand Prix has always been the third race of the Formula One chart, except for the 2006 season. In that season, the Bahrain Grand Prix was flipped with the traditional opener of Grand Prix, the Australian Grand Prix. In 2006, Australian Grand Prix was beat back due to the Commonwealth Games, being held near the time of the race's usual date.

The construction of the Sakhir track or Bahrain International Circuit in Bahrain was started in the year of 2002. After the completion of the project, the Sakhir track soon became more popular than the Kuwait Circuit and became the center of gulf motor sport. Nowadays in this circuit many other races take place such as occasional drag races and GT races and Formula 3 races. Even though alcoholic beverages are legal in Bahrain, like dozens of other Muslim countries, the drivers of Bahrain Grand Prix car race don't spray champagne on the platform. As an alternative, they spray a non-alcoholic rosewater drink known as Waard.

A criticism of the Bahrain Grand Prix car race track is their wide excess areas which do not punish those drivers who fail to stay on the race track. Apart from this criticism it is true that this improves the safety measure, as pulling brakes on sand is really difficult.
