Australia Rugby Shirt

The green and gold, Australian Rugby Shirts is one of the most well known sporting garment in Australia. In 1899 when the early international games were played the national jersey had not yet been created, so the the state colors of Queensland and New South Wales were used with the Australian coat of arms as the logo.

1908-1912 saw the emblem of the national flower the Waratah being used with the blue NSW shirt, 'Australia' was inscribed underneath or an 'A' was put over the symbol. The green and yellow of the Australian non- professional sports representations was adopted in 1928 and subsequently when the 'All Black' New Zealanders visited the Wallabies(Australians) the shirt worn had the Australian Coat of Arms on emerald green with green socks barred on the top.

Due to jersey conflicts minor changes did happen yet it essentially remained the same throughout the 30,s. 1961 saw a major change in the jersey hue it became yellow, and the color has stuck since. A custom designed jersey was released before the U.K. and France spring tour of 2005; the green rings on the sleeve were removed and a panel of green added under the sleeves and down the sides of the shirt. The green material being stretchable allows for greater degree of movement.
The design inputs were taken from players, fans and other prominent personalities linked to the game and the design was created and executed by the famous designers Canterbury. The official color of Gold Rush looks wonderful when contrasted with the dark green on the sides and white on the collars, which is 100% cotton drill with a loop neck. It is made from a 60-40 mix of cotton and polyester respectively. On the left chest it sports the ARU logo and on the right is the Wallabies logo, the team sponsor,Qantas logo is printed boldly in the front. It can be both half and full sleeved, there is also a training anorak in which the green panel extends to both above and below the full sleeves. The official shirt is sold only by Canterbury.

Rugby Shirts have a huge market in Australia.
