Where is it: Lying close to Pacific Ocean, Brisbane is located at a latitude and longitude of 27?28′ S 153?02′ E.

It is situated beside the Brisbane River between Moreton Bay and the Great Dividing Range in southeastern Queensland. The city occupies a total area of 4768 sq. km. It has a population of 1,810,943 with a density of 353.8 per sq. km.

How to Commute: The two airports Brisbane Airport and Archerfield Airport serve the city. Brisbane Airport is the third busiest airport in the country.

The Port of Brisbane, the third most important in the country is the main system used for trade. Bus, rail and ferry service are the main public transport in the city. CityCat, the high-speed ferry service has its service along Brisbane River. Besides this, Freeways, expressways and highways ease the travel.

About City: Brisbane is the capital of Australian state of Queensland. The city has been named in honor of Sir Thomas Brisbane. It was a harsh penal colony established by New South Wales during the time of its formation in 1824. Later in 1859, after Queensland was proclaimed a separate colony, the city was chosen as its capital. It was not incorporated as a city until 1902. In 1925, the merger of over twenty small municipalities and shires formed the City of Greater Brisbane. After World War II, the city developed tremendously and is now one of fastest growing cities in Australia and the second fastest in the developed world.
