- Password validity for 6 more months and minimum one blank visa page
- One recent photo (American citizens should give 2 photos with 2 application forms)

Travelers should apply for the visa within 3 months from the date of entry to China. Separate postal fees are charged other than the visa fee for applications sent by mail or agent. Fees are enclosed along with the application form in the form of cash, cheques or money order.
Chinese Embassy advices the tourists traveling to Tibet to participate in group tours. They can also get permission from Tibetan Tourist Bureau. If Hong Kong is your destination then visas are not required for a tour of not more than 3 months.
