The British immigrants in Argentina deserve the kudos for importing rugby in Argentina. In 1899, four clubs in Argentina's capital, Buenos Aires, formed together the River Plate Rugby Football Union. Argentina rugby team lost their first match against the British rugby team by a score of 3 to 28 on July 12, 1910 in Buenos Aires.
The Argentina rugby team recorded their first victory in the land of Chile in 1936. 1938 saw more victories by Argentina rugby team against Chile hosted in Argentina. The next few decades have witnessed the triumph of Argentina National Rugby Team over Brazil, England, France and many rugby playing nations.
