The Tigre delta is located in the Buenos Aires province of Argentina and is a favorite weekend destination for tourists from around the world the year round. The Parana River joins the Uruguay River here and forms a delta region known as Tigre . The Parana River originates in the south-eastern Brazil and is the second longest river in South America. This delta is over an area of 14,000 square kilometer and houses numerous islands & inlets, rivers & back waters, and several water channels.
Tigre Argentina derived its name from the Yaguarete, the American Jaguar or Tiger. They had made this region their habitat long before the human-beings settled here. These American Jaguars or Tigers were once abundant in the Tigre region but now they have become nearly extinct.
