Santa Cruz i s the name of a province in Argentina. Santa Cruz is located in the southern part of Argentina in Patagonia. Santa Cruz share its border with Chutbut in the north, to the west and the south Chile borders it and on the east flows the Atlantic ocean .
Andes stands on the west of Santa Cruz although the altitude is not as high as that on the north and central. The peak of the Andes remains snow covered through out the year and the ice sheets feeds a number of glaciers along its path. The beaches along the Atlantic ocean on the east are full of cliffs.
During summer Santa Cruz experiences an average temperature of 13 o Celsius. During the winter season there is a major fluctuation in temperature. Rainfal l is scanty with an annual average downpour of 200mm. Although the precipitation of the ice sheets in the west are a common phenomenon. The steppe region is cold and arid and many rivers cut through the region providing fertile valleys. There are numerous lakes found in the region, which are a result of the glacial precipitation.
The economy of Santa Cruz mainly depends upon the extraction of petroleum, hydrocarbons, gas, coal, salt, gypsum etc. Santa Cruz also has an economy depending upon livestock rearing. Cattle, sheep, pigs are all reared to produce meat and wool. Fishing is also an important activity practiced in Santa Cruz .
