Jujuy is located in the north western side of Argentina. Jujuy shares its border with Bolivia and Chile . To the east and south of Jujuy lies the Salta province of Argentina. Jujuy covers an area of about 53,219 square km. In Jujuy one can find mountains, rivers, valleys and forests. The two rivers in the province are San Francisco and Grande River .
Jujuy is mainly divided into three areas. They are Altiplano plateau, Quebrada de Humahuac a which is a mountain valley and the Gran Chaco region.
The difference in the altitude produces a major climactic changes in Jujuy. Jujuy mainly experience arid climate. There is a huge temperature difference in the areas at higher altitude.
Economy of Jujuy mainly depends upon sugarcane agriculture. Jujuy's industries based on the sugarcane production produces an average of 30 % of the total sugar production of the country. Other agricultural products produced in this region are tobacco, citrus, tomatoes and beans. The production of iron in Jujuy suffices the Altos Hornos Zapla furnace in the production of Steel. Mining i s also practised in Jujuy . Salt production at Salidas Grandes Salt Basin , Caimancito is famous for petroleum extraction. Rearing of cattle is also commonly practiced for the products like meat, milk and wool.
Tourism industry is also quite developed in Jujuy. Tourists from Argentina, South America and Europe flocks in large number to visit Jujuy. The places of tourists interests are San Salvador de Jujuy, Quebrada de Humahuaca, Pucara de Tilcara. Calilegua National Park, Laguna Guayatayoc, Laguna de Pozuelos.
