Corrientes


Corrientes is a low-lying subtropical province in Argentina. It is located in northeastern part of Argentina, in the Mesopotamia region and is bordered by Paraguay and Entre Rios. It has been nestled on the shore of the Paraná River.

Corrientes is considered to be one of the major economic hub of Argentina. Being the provincial capital it holds the governmental authorities. It is in fact a perfect merge of colonial Baroque style and modern architecture. While travelling around Corrientes the tourists get the opportunity to visit a number of churches. ceibo, jacaranda, and orange are some of the trees that can be found in Corrientes. It also houses one of the biggest happening carnivals in the country.

The annual average temperature of Corrientes is around 20 °C, with maximum and minimum averages of 33 °C and 10 °C respectively. The annual rainfall is approximately 1,200 mm. Throughout the year this region enjoys mild climate.

Corrientes is also acquiring popularity due to its advantageous location. One can reach this region very easily by availing bus or car. It is in fact a perfect holiday destination for sport fishing. The major tourist hub of this province include Iberá Wetlands and the Mburucuyá National Park.

Corrientes culture is primarily inspired by the culture of Europe. On 28th September, 2004, provincial Law No. 5598 announced Guaraní to be an official language of Corrientes province beside Spanish.

Most of the Corrientes dwellers maintain their sustenance by indulging themselves in agricultural activities. The major agricultural products include citrus, tobacco, rice, yerba mate, timber, tea and cotton.

The province of Corrientes is divided into 25 departments.
