Chubut was occupied by the Indians till the seventeenth century. After numerous bloody fights and battles, the first Europeans came to the region in 1865 and Chubut was declared an independent province in 1955. Large deposits of petroleum had been discovered in Commodore Rivadavia, which is presently the largest city , for the first time in 1907 which paved a way for revenue generation. Fishing is also one of the main sources of revenue. The technology in Chubut started developing in the sixties and Chubu t gradually gained prominence on the international platform.
