Antarctica Weather is the coldest one on this planet. Weather in Antarctica varies from place to place. This continent is considered as the frozen desert. The South Pole of Antarctica receives very little rainfall-less than ten centimeters per year on an average. During the winter the temperature ranges between -80 degree Celsius and -90 degree Celsius in the winter. During the summer near the temperature near the coast varies between 5 degree Celsius and 15 degree Celsius.
Due to the ultraviolet radiation, sunburn is a common health problem at Antarctica. Because of its increased height, the eastern part is cooler. Ice cover lasts for prolonged periods over the central zone. Antarctica Weather states that in the coastal areas the occurrence of snowfall is not uncommon. A snowfall of 1.22 meters has been recorded within 48 hours in this area. At the tip of the continent a special type of strong wind blows. This wind is known as the Katabatic winds. In the interior part of the continent, however, the winds are moderate.
Antarctica is cooler than the Arctic for two reasons- firstly, the Antarctic region lies three kilometers above the sea level . Secondly, the ice coating in the Arctic area prevents the temperature from entering the extreme southern part. The aurora Australis can be spotted in the night sky near the South Pole. Diamond dust, another peculiar feature can be observed in the clear skies. Finally there is the Sun Dog, which can be sighted beside the actual sun.
