Antarctica is the coldest continent. Swimming to Antarctica is a very difficult thing and almost impossible because the temperature is far below the temperature human can survive in. So, it was almost unheard of Antarctica swimming until 1987 when Lynne Cox, an American woman, swam the Bering Strait starting from the Little Diomede Island in Alaska to Big Diomedeher.
She is regarded as one of the best swimmers in ocean. Surprisingly, her grand success was acknowledged by both Mikhail Gorbachev and Ronald Reagan, who were known to be rivals.
Traveling in Antarctica is charming and dangerous, too. One has to be a real brave to take part in all activities if adventure to Antarctica. Still, Swimming to Antarctica was not in the list. It is still a mystery how Lynn could survive after swimming in the coldest water on earth. Her limbs were numb and she was about to faint.
However, she is still surviving and is the author of 'Swimming to Antarctica'. In that particular swimming she was under freezing cold water for 25 minutes at a stretch swimming 1.06 miles, However, Hypothermia could not make her dead.
