Antarctica weather is the harshest of all weather conditions found all over the world. The main reason why the continent is almost uninhabited can be credited to this extreme climatic condition of Antarctica. The continent is the coldest with temperatures ranging between -15ºC and -35ºC in the summer season and between -40ºC and -70ºC in winter.
There are several factors that work towards making harsh climatic conditions in Antarctica. The color and quality of the snow of Antarctica makes a deep impact on the Antarctica weather. Major portion of the sun's radiation is reflected back by the snow and ice in Antarctica. This makes the weather of Antarctica even harsher.
The air in Antarctica continent is extremely dry due to the lack of vapor or moisture in the air. Apart from these, there is constant snowfall in the continent that makes weather of Antarctica unsuitable for human settlement or for any type of vegetation. Another factor that leads to the extreme cold conditions in Antarctica is the extreme high elevation of the continent in the world. This automatically increases the temperature of Antarctica and its surrounding areas.
The blizzards also make the climate of Antarctica unendurable. There are six months in Antarctica when the sun does not come out of the horizon, making extreme weather conditions. The westerly winds that blow over the Atlantic Ocean makes temperatures fall drastically in Antarctica.
