Antarctica is a continent unfit for human habitation. McMurdo Antarctica is a human community containing all necessary travel and accommodation arrangements.

McMurdo Antarctica is the biggest human community on Antarctica. The outpost was first established in 1956. The beginnings were purely military. McMurdo in Antarctica was established by the American military as one of the strategic locations of the 'cold war' going on at that time. The founding engineers of Antarctica McMurdo had set up base in the only solid ground they could find in the area. The buildings of the settlement are built on exposed volcanic rock on Ross Island. McMurdo could be reached by sea ships. The McMurdo settlement in Antarctica presently contains more than a hundred buildings. The stations also have a fully functional seasonal airport and harbor.

The McMurdo Antarctic station possesses all modern fitments. The airport of the settlement has two landing strips. One of the landing strip is on sea ice and the other is on shelf ice. A helicopter landing pad is also present.. The airport is named Williams Field. The Williams Field airport maintains vital contact between the station and United States. Direct flights are also available to New Zealand. McMurdo Antarctica is presently under civilian control. The McMurdo station is equipped with urban conveniences like telephone, water, sewer and electric lines.
