Antarctica Flag

Antarctica Flag is not the fixed flag of Antarctica. In fact, Antarctica does not have a flag of its own. Three noted personalities had tried to give a specific look of the flag of Antarctica. They are Graham Bartram, Whitney Smith and David Hamilton. They actually did the designing of the Antarctica flag in accordance with their own thought and preference.

According to Graham Bartram the flag of Antarctica should contain the physical map of the continent on a blue background. This was done to avoid any type of disputes regarding the claims over this continent. According to Whitney Smith the flag should be painted orange so as to have prominent visibility in the Antarctic climate. On it the symbol of letter ‘a’ should be written in blocks to give prominence to the name of the continent. Below the letter a there is a picture of hands holding a disc like object representing earth.

According to David Hamilton the flag has three colors-pale blue, yellow and dark blue. The dark blue color is the symbolic representation of the night, the yellow one represents the light of the southern hemisphere and the pale blue color denotes the ice pack. The famous stellar constellation is shown on the dark strip.
