Newspapers & TV: The city has a media though not powerful enough to speak out the dos and don'ts of the city. A number of newspapers, weeklies and magazines published from the city are aimed at English readers. The newspapers tell the happenings in and around the city. Various channels telecast in the city allow the people to keep track of the updated news. It also telecast English films and other English language programs.

English Language Newspapers: The city is a publisher of a number of English language local newspapers. De Telegraaf is the largest selling newspaper in the city. The Amsterdam Times, the weekly newspaper can be subscribed by any one staying in the city. It covers the entire weekly events that happen in and around the city. Amsterdam Weekly covers the cultural exhibitions, concerts, shows and movies. It can be accessed for free at various locations such as city hall, shops, cafes etc. Dutch News Digest that comes out with the daily summary of Dutch news and leisure articles about exhibitions, movies, hotels and restaurants is also circulated in the city. Amsterdam Media, NIS News Bulletin that covers national and international news supplied from the ANP agency on politics, economy, and weather forecast, Netherlands Post that come out with international and national news on politics, business and sports and International Herald Tribune, Amsterdams Stadsblad published weekly on Wednesdays, De Echo, the local paper, are some of the widely circulated newspapers in Amsterdam. English Language Broadcasts: The number of channels in the city telecast many interesting English programs. English language programs and films fill the channel schedule. The pan European cable and satellite channels such as MTV, CNN and Eurosport and a few foreign channels like BBC1 and BBC 2 telecast interesting programs. AT5 is the local television broadcasting company for in and around Amsterdam. TROS is another public broadcasting corporation. VARA, the independent broadcasting corporation telecast programs aimed at general public.
