Health & Emergency Services: With the possession of an international health insurance pass, the visitors to the city are entitled to health care during the course of stay in the city. All medical services covered by insurance will be reimbursed. People who reach Amsterdam for treatment needs to have an E112 (Treatment Abroad Scheme) form. There are other emergency services in Amsterdam aimed at the tourists. ATAS (Amsterdam Tourist Assistance Service) offers help to the international tourists who happen to be the victims of a criminal offence in Amsterdam. The aliens police who issue residence permits keep an eye on the expatriates who stay in the Netherlands. Medicines for minor ailments, toiletries, tampons, condoms are available at drugstore. Prescribed medicines are available at the pharmacies. Person with a private medical insurance policy should contact the local Health Service Office and produce the E111 form. This office can also give information regarding the cheapest treatment available.

Police & Fire Services: The police and fire service can be contacted in case of emergency. The emergency number of police and fire service is 112. The lost and found objects can be handed over to any of the police stations that offer help round the clock. There is a Police Storage Yard (Bureau Opslag Vervoer) that organizes the restitution of all stolen cars, bikes etc that are recovered by the police from Amsterdam-Amstelland area. Theft or robbery can be reported to the local police station. In order to clear any queries that are not urgent the police stations can be contacted by telephone. There are National Water Police who are responsible of police matters in the national main waterways.
