Classical & Contemporary: Amsterdammers enjoy classical as well as modern music. The city known as the center of classical music and chamber music have famous classical music orchestras such as Koninklijk Concertgebouworkest, Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest and the Orkest van de Achttiende Eeuw. Symphony orchestras play Baroque music, which is world famous. The contemporary or modern music is also common in the city. Rock and pop music and jazz music are the prominent modern music in the city.
Opera: The city owns an opera house, which was built recently. Earlier in 1946, Netherlands had an opera, which held over 100 programs a year. Later in 1964, it was abandoned and a new institution based in Amsterdam was found. It is now running efficiently by holding a number of programs providing entertainment to the people.
Jazz: Jazz is always the favorite of Amsterdammers. Dutch producers and DJs often hold concerts in the dance halls and bars. Tourists also drop in here for the jam session. The city best known for improvisational jazz holds the world's biggest jazz festival every year. Jazz and free jazz include the musical agenda of most of the cafes and clubs. The customers who dance to this beat explore the thrill of it.
Rock & Pop: The city has a countless rock and pop bands that performs concerts in its bars, pubs and clubs. It is a modern music that is performed either individually or in-group. The teenagers and the youth irrespective of sex gather in such places where the rock and pop music is performed.
