Unicycling

Unicycling has emerged as one of the popular adventure sports as well as a recreational activity , in which people ride on unicycle and perform various tricks or movements. Initially unicycles were used only for entertainment. However, at present the vehicles are used for various outdoor activities . The origin of unicycle dates back to the early nineteenth century, when bicycles were invented. Since then, unicycles have come a long way and unicycling has evolved as one of the extreme adventure sports .

Unicycling has gained much popularity among the adventure lovers, who love to face the challenge of riding a unicycle . Since its advent during the nineteenth century, unicycles have undergone many changes and developments. Unicycling has become both on and off road sport activity with the passage of time. Various styles of unicycling practiced by expert cyclists across the globe are freestyle unicycling , trials unicycling , street unicycling , mountain unicycling and unicycle racing . The international domain of unicycling is regulated by the International Unicycling Federation . There are also many other organizations, which arrange various unicycling competitions and events every year.

Unicycles used for unicycling events differ from event to event. The main difference between unicycles used for various events lies in the wheels of the vehicles. Different types of wheels are used for different unicycling events. Other equipments used by the riders of unicycles during the events include various protective gears like helmet, wrist guards, knee and elbow pads, shin guards and cycling outfits like shorts specially made for the purpose. Riding a unicycle is much difficult compared to riding a bicycle. For this reason, only those people, who are highly skilled in riding unicycles, should indulge in the sport.
