Skysurfing

Skysurfing is a special form of skydiving involving the use of a board attached to the feet of the skydiver to help him perform aerobatic skills during the freefall . The boards, which are smaller than surfboards in size and larger than the skateboards, are usually attached to the surfers in such a way that they can easily be detached by them as soon as the surfers find any difficulty with them. The potential skydivers need quite a bit of practice. The knowledge of parachuting is also important for a skydiver to have. The sport has a little bit in common with surfing. For example, the pictures of a skydiver surfing seem to be like the surfing done on the waves as the pictures are taken by the other skydivers falling with similar momentum.

Though there are evidences that the sport was started on an experimental note in the 1980s, yet it was in the 90s that the game gained its popularity and recognition. The middle part of the 1990s saw the popularity of the sport reach its zenith and it was the result of the contributions of a number of players of whom the most famous was the late Patrick de Gayardon . There are also a few famous sky surfing teams like that of Roe Harris and Joe Jennings, Bob Greiner and Cliff Burch and many more.

Sky surfing undoubtedly realizes man's dream of flying high in the sky. The sport involves a lot of risks. Yet it is being embraced by an increasing number of persons with every passing day. The sport is going to be among the top adventure sports of near future
