Sailing and Windsurfing is a form of adventure sport developed as combination of two sports, sailing and surfing , and gives as much thrill and fun as the combination of the enjoyment of those two sports. It is completely a water sport and involves sailing and surfing on a sailboard or a windsurf board. These windsurf boards have only one polyester sail to help them travel fast taking the wind in the sail. These sails have two predominant designs- camber induced and rotational . With the specially designed windsurf board, the sailors can perform several tricks while riding on the wavy surfaces. Different types of windsurfing boards like the Freeride board , the Formula Windsurfing Class boards are of different sizes. They are used for entertainment, racing and many other reasons.
It was in the later half of the twentieth century that the sport of windsurfing acquired extreme popularity. With different courts attributing different persons as the inventors of the game, it is possibly beyond reach to know who really was the inventor. However, Hoyle and Diana Scheitzer deserve the main credit for popularizing the sport by their marketing policies and by the foundation of the Windsurfing International .
