Bodyboarding is a form of adventure sports which helps the boarders to enjoy the thrill of riding a wave in the oceans and seas by riding a bodyboard . These bodyboards are usually small and rectangular pieces of foam which help bodyboarders get better balance on them. It is different from a surfboard because it is much shorter than a surfboard. The materials used in the two are also different. The bodyboarders also dare to ride the boards while standing on them or also kneeling down and this form is known as the dropknee position. The main gear needed by the bodyboarders is the swimfins which are worn in both feet by them to control their trajectory, adjust speed and paddle in the water.
There is evidence stating that the people of Hawaii rode on the paipo boards over the swelling waves of the ocean in 1778. These are one of the first mentions of Bodyboarding. But the modern form was initiated by Tom Morey with the invention of modern bodyboards in the year 1971.
The sport of Bodyboarding has been transformed into a competitive one with the introduction of the modern world tour . Guilherme Tamega and Mike Stewart are two of the most successful players in the sport. With the increasing popularity of the sport, Bodyboarding is spreading across the globe very fast.
