George M. Dallas ( 1845-1849)

The full name of George M. Dallas was George Mifflin Dallas. In the year 1810, George M Dallas completed his graduation from New Jersey College. George M. Dallas became the 11th Vice President of United States. His tenure as a Vice President was from 4th March, 1845 to 4th March, 1849.At that time James Knox Polk was the President of USA. He preceded John Tyler as Vice President. Later Millard Fillmore succeeded him. From the state of Pennsylvania, George M. Dallas was elected as an US Senator.

His served as a US Senator from 13th December 1831 to 3rd March 1833.He became US Senator after Isaac. D. Barnard resigned from his post. He was succeeded by Samuel McKean later on. On 10th July, 1792 George M. Dallas was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. George M. Dallas belonged to the Democratic Party in United States of America. He won the Vice President as a Democratic candidate. From the year 1837 -1839,President Martin Van Buren made him Minister Plenipotentiary and Envoy Extraordinary to Russia. From 1856- 1861, President Franklin Pierce made George M. Dallas the Minister Plenipotentiary and Envoy Extraordinary from 1856-1861 to Britain.

Alexander J. Dallas, Treasury Secretary of the United States was George M. Dallas's father. George M. Dallas also served as Philadelphia's mayor from 21st October 1828 to 15th April 1829. He even became Philadelphia's eastern district's district attorney. He served there from the year 1829-1831.George M. Dallas also became the Naval Affairs Committee's chairman. From the year 1833- 1835, George M. Dallas served as Pennsylvania's attorney general.
