Feb.20, 2008: The Wisconsin Republican Primary - Feb. 19 was won by the Party's frontrunner John McCain. McCain secured 54% of the popular votes, almost 16% ahead of Mike Huckabee. Huckabee finished at the second position with 38% of the popular votes. Ron Paul emerged third with 5% votes.
There are a total of 40 delegates for the Republicans from the state of Wisconsin. 37 of them were tied to the Feb. 19 Primary. The final results are still awaited. However, McCain has secured the support of 13 delegates according to the latest reports.
Male voters accounted for 58% of the Republican votes. Age-wise, the major section belonged to the category between 45-59 years of age, closely followed by senior voters who were sixty and above.
McCain, after the win at the Wisconsin Primary, has thanked the voters for choosing him as the Projected Winner. At the same time, he continued his attack on the Democratic candidates for Presidency, particularly Sen. Obama.
