
New York is one of the 24 states that went to polls on 5th February, 2008 for choosing their representatives for the National Convention. The result of New York Republican Primary - 5th February has declared McCain as the Projected Winner from the state.
The New York Republican Primary saw an eager participation of 66 % precincts of the state. Out of the total 11,222,042 registered voters, who participated in the Republican Presidential Primary at New York, 27 % were republicans.
McCain has defeated his nearest competitor Romney with 23 % of the popular votes. The projected winner secured 51 % popular votes, and on the other hand, Romney secured 28 % of the total popular votes.
There are total 101 republican delegates in the state of New York, and the projected winner, McCain secured all of them, leaving no delegates for his rivals. Huckabee stands in the third position, with 11 % popular votes.
Among the total voters, 57 % were male and 43 % were female voters. Most of the voters (38 %) belonged to the age group above 60 and 33 % of them were from the age group between 45 and 59.
