Republican Primary at Mississippi-March 11

Mississippi Republican Primary March 12, 2008: Republican Primary at Mississippi - March 11 was won by the Party's frontrunner for the Presidential post, Sen. John McCain. McCain won 79% of the total votes and all the 36 delegates from the state who tied for the March 11 Republican Primaries. McCain's GOP candidature for the Presidential post is now almost a certainty, and this is clearly reflected in the result of all the state Primaries that are being held after the exit of Mike Huckabee from the Republican race.

Mike Huckabee, who has already announced his withdrawal from the race, finished a distant second with 12% of the total votes. Ron Paul won only 4% of the popular votes. Neither of the two candidates secured a single delegate vote.

53% of the total electoral strength who participated for yesterday's GOP Primary at Mississippi was male. There were a very high percentage of senior voters as well, who accounted for about 44% of the total electoral strength.
