Feb 9, 2008: Louisiana Republican Primary - Feb 9 witnessed a strong contest between Mike Huckabee and John McCain. Huckabee became the Projected Winner by a margin of 1% vote. He received 69,665 votes, i. e., about 42% of the votes cast. McCain finished second with 67,609 votes. Mitt Romney secured the third position by acquiring about 10,232 votes (7% votes), way behind of Huckabee and McCain. Ron Paul secured 8,595 votes and occupied the fourth position.
At the Republican Primary at Louisiana - Feb 9, 100% precincts voted for the Presidential candidates. The ratio of male and female voters was 51:49. Statistics show that the male voters out did the female electors at the US Elections on Feb 9. 51% of the total votes were cast by the male voters and the female voters contributed about 49% of votes. The majority of the votes (i. e. 37% votes) came from the age group of 60 years and above. 32% votes were cast by the voters belonging to the age group of 45-59 years. People between the age group of 30-44 years contributed about 21% of the total votes. The rest of the votes were cast by the electors who were below 30 years of age.
