Mike Huckabee and Ron Paul finished at distant second and third positions, with 12% and 7% votes respectively. North Carolina has a total strength of 69 primaries, of which 66 tied for the May 6 Primary. McCain's win in the North Carolina GOP Primary came on expected lines, as all the major contenders have already withdrawn from the nomination race, and have pledged to stand by McCain instead. It now remains to be seen, what percentage of these votes get translated into Presidential votes on the Election Day, which is on November 4.
