May 8, 2008: John McCain has comfortably won the Republican Primary at Indiana – May 6. He secured 77% of the popular votes. He was followed by Mike Huckabee who has already withdrawn from the nomination race and got only 10% votes. Ron Paul and Mitt Romney secured the third and the fourth position with 8% and 5% votes respectively. Indiana has a total of 57 delegates, of whom 54 tied for the May 6 GOP Primary at Indiana. Although the delegates are yet to be distributed, yet it is expected that McCain will carry a majority of them.
McCain's win at the Indiana Primary came on expected lines as he has already established himself as the frontrunner as the Party's candidate for the Presidential post. The other major contenders have already withdrawn their candidature but have pledged their support behind McCain.
