
The California Presidential Primary went to polls for selecting candidates for Republican National Convention on the 5th of February 2008. The results of the California Republican Presidential Primary- February 5 declared John McCain as the Projected Winner from this Primary. McCain had won by a margin of 42% of popular votes, in contrast to his closest political rival Mitt Romney, who got 34% of popular votes.
The Primary experienced a participation of 99% precincts. McCain secured a total of 985,900 number of registered votes and Romney got 801,568 votes in total, in the California Primary Republican Presidential elections.
John McCain secured the votes of 116 delegates and Mitt Romney secured the support of 3 delegates. Huckabee with 12% of popular votes secured the third position. The other contestants were Giuliani and
Ron Paul who got 5% and 4% of popular votes respectively.
As per the official statistical reports, out of the total number of voters in the Republican Presidential Primary California- February 5, 54% of voters were male and 46% were female voters. There were participation of more male voters than female voters. Most of the voters belonged to the age group of 60 and above.
