Obama Change Website

2008 Election Map
November 7- U.S. President-elect Barack Obama launched the official website www.change.gov for his transition to the White House, inviting users to offer their ideas for the future of the country. It will help gather millions of email addresses while giving people the feeling that they have a voice in how the U.S. is governed.

The website asks readers to "Share Your Vision" via e-mail. As soon a person sends their thoughts, a reply pings back: "Thanks for signing up to join us in remaking Washington." Users can also blog, read about the president-elect's agenda and priorities, upcoming events and even apply for jobs in an Obama administration. Under the headline "It's Your America: Share Your Ideas" Obama states "The story of the campaign and this historic moment has been your story. Share your story and your ideas, and be part of bringing positive lasting change to this country."

Other features include a countdown to the inauguration, when Obama is to be sworn in as president on January 20, 2009. One can also access a link to the YouTube video of Obama's victory speech in Chicago on Tuesday night. Fundamentally, this website is an extension of one of Obama’s successful tactics during his campaign- Make people feel like they are part of the strategy, give them a voice. The website creates an avenue to keep supporters engaged and connected, inciting a plethora of old and new supporters.
