McCain's Final Stretch

2008 Election Map
November 4th- Republican presidential candidate McCain wasted no time today after voting at Albright United Methodist Church in Phoenix, Arizona. He was then on his way to New Mexico and Colorado, two Western states McCain's campaign is still trying to win despite trailing in the polls. The latest CNN poll in New Mexico shows Democratic opponent Senator Barack Obama leading 51% to 43% with 6% unsure. And the latest poll in Colorado shows Obama leading 51% to 45% with 4% unsure. McCain's running mate, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin voted in her home town of Wasilla, Alaska and is then headed to Arizona for a post-election celebration.

McCain campaign manager Rick Davis hopes that wins in the three Western battleground states will offset potential losses in Virginia and Florida. "If we can win Nevada, Colorado and New Mexico, all of a sudden we've got a new pathway to victory. Those weren't even on the list three weeks ago," Davis stated.

McCain rallied in important battleground states on Monday including Florida and Pennsylvania. Turning Pennsylvania from a blue to red state is also vital to McCain's campaign since there are not many paths McCain can take to get to the 270 electoral votes needed to win the election without Pennsylvania's 21 electoral votes.
