Feb 12, 2008: Barack Obama was declared the Projected Winner from the state of District of Columbia after the results of the District of Columbia Democratic Presidential Primary - February 12 were announced. He secured a convincing win over his rival candidate Hillary Clinton. Obama got 85,534 popular votes while Clinton secured only 27,326 popular votes. A big difference of 51% of popular votes made Barack Obama the Projected Winner. On February 12 Democratic Presidential Primary District of Columbia, Obama won the support of 9 delegates, whereas Hillary Clinton secured only the vote of a single delegate.
There was a huge turnout of voters in the Democratic Presidential Primary DC on February 12. A total of 1,13,157 voters cast their polls in the election. 98% precincts reported for the voting process.
The state of District of Columbia will be represented by 3 electoral votes in the US Presidential election 2008 on 4th November. 74% of the total registered voters in DC are Democrats.
