Vermont Democratic Primary - March 4

center March 5, 2008: Illinois Senator Barack Obama won the Vermont Democratic Primary - March 4. 86% of the total precincts have already reported and as par the latest reports, Barack Obama leads the polls with a wide margin of over 20%. According to the latest information, Obama has secured 60% of the total popular votes. Hillary Clinton is a distant second with 38% popular votes.

Barack Obama has secured the support of 9 out of the 15 delegates tied for the March 4 Primary. Clinton has secured the support of the remaining 6. Vermont is a small State with a very low delegate count, which is probably why none of the candidates campaigned in the State. However, the delegates may prove to be crucial for the candidates, if the race goes all the way down to the wire in the National Convention. Vermont also has a strength of 8 superdelegates to the National Convention.
