
New Mexico Democratic Primary - Feb 5 witnessed a strong contest between Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama. Clinton was declared the Projected Winner of the National Convention on Super Tuesday. She secured about 66,173 votes, which is about 49% of the total votes received. Obama occupied the second position by securing 65,963 votes. Edwards finished third with 2% votes at the Democratic Primary at New Mexico - Feb 5. He is known to have received about 2,025 votes.
About 38 delegates are reported to have voted for the Democrats on the 5th February. Out the 38 delegates, who voted at the US elections, 12 were super delegates; whereas, the remaining, i.e. 26 were tied to the Primary of February 5.
New Mexico witnessed the participation of 98% precincts on the Super Tuesday. According to the statistics, 56 % of voters were female and 44 % were male. The age group, to which most of the voters belonged, is estimated to be between 45-59 years. 36% of the voters were 60 years and above. The rest of the votes came from the age group between 30-44 years (18%) and 18-29 years (8%).
